Custom web app & SaaS MVP developmentSoftware built to survive its second year, not just its demo.
A prototype proves the idea. Then someone has to live with the code. One senior engineer takes your product from a scoped plan to production on Next.js and TypeScript, in your repository from day one, with a working demo in your hands every Friday.
/ In plain terms
What is custom web application development?
Custom web application development is the design and engineering of software that runs in a browser and is built for one business's specific workflow, as opposed to an off-the-shelf product. Typical examples are SaaS products, customer portals, booking systems, dashboards and internal tools, usually with user accounts, a database and integrations with other systems.

/ The tell
Find the sentence that describes your week.
The things you would already have noticed if a custom web app applied to you.
- You have a validated idea and need a first version real customers can pay for.
- A spreadsheet or a no-code tool is running a process it was never meant to run.
- Your prototype works, but you would not put your name on the code behind it.
- The app gets slower every month as usage grows.
- The agency that built it has gone quiet and nobody understands the codebase.
/ What lands in your hands
What you actually receive.
Concrete things, not a statement of intent. This is what is included in a web app build.
Scoped build plan
An outcome, a feature list cut to what the first version needs, and a fixed price before any code is written.
Production codebase
TypeScript throughout, with tests on the parts that handle money, permissions and data.
Accounts, roles and billing
Authentication, role-based access and Stripe subscriptions or one-off payments where the product needs them.
Deploy pipeline
Preview environments for every change and a production deploy that takes one click, not one afternoon.
Monitoring
Error tracking, logging and alerting set up before launch, so you hear about a problem before a customer does.
Handover
Full source ownership, a documented data model and a walkthrough for whoever maintains it next.
/ Proof
Work you can open, not a promise.
Three web applications we built end to end: a real-time AI workspace, an invoicing and inventory platform, and a patient scheduling and records system.
/ How it runs
Four stages. No surprises.
4 to 10 weeks for a first version. You get a fixed timeline and a fixed price in writing before any code is written.
- 01
Discovery
Week 1We define the outcome the product has to produce and cut the scope to the smallest version that can produce it.
- 02
Architecture
Weeks 1 to 2Data model, what is bought versus built, and which decisions are deliberately left reversible.
- 03
Build
Weeks 2 to 8Production code written daily in your repository. Every Friday there is a deployed demo you can click.
- 04
Hardening and launch
Final 1 to 2 weeksEdge cases, load behaviour, accessibility and monitoring, then launch and handover.
/ Before you buy
No-code, off-the-shelf or custom?
Custom software is the most expensive of the three and often the wrong first choice. This is when each one fits.
| Criteria | No-code tools | Off-the-shelf SaaS | Custom web app |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to first version | Days to weeks | Immediate | Weeks to months |
| Fits your exact workflow | Partly | Rarely | Yes |
| Ownership | You own the configuration, not the platform | You rent it | You own the code |
| Right when | Testing an idea cheaply | The problem is common and solved | The workflow is your advantage, or the tools have run out |

Web App Development FAQ · reviewed
How long does it take to build a web app MVP?
Most first versions take 4 to 10 weeks from a scoped plan to production. The range depends on the number of user roles, integrations and how much of the workflow has to be in version one. Discovery takes about a week and ends with a written scope and timeline.
How much does custom web app development cost?
Projects start from $5,000. Cost follows scope: the number of features, user roles, integrations and how much the product must handle at launch. We price a defined scope at a fixed number after a free discovery call, and scope changes are priced in writing when they come up.
What tech stack do you use?
Mostly TypeScript with Next.js and React on the front end, and Node.js with Postgres or Convex on the back end. We also work with Clerk, Stripe, Firebase, Sanity and AWS. If you have an existing stack, we work in it.
Do I own the code?
Yes. You own everything we build for you on final payment, including full source access. The code lives in your repository from the start, and this is written into every statement of work.
Can you take over an existing codebase?
Yes, and it is a large part of our work. We start with a short review to find what is risky, then fix, extend or refactor without insisting on a rewrite.
Should I use a no-code tool instead?
Often, at the start. If a no-code tool can test the idea in a week, use it and spend the money on customers. Custom development earns its cost when the tool's limits are slowing the business or when the workflow itself is what you sell.
